Fun Fact
If you stretch a rubber band for a few seconds, it will start to heat up. And the same way, stretching, warms up muscles and tendons. If you pull the rubber band, too fast, it will stretch out and lose its strength, it could even snap. Muscles are very similar. You must be gentle in stretching during the warm-up. In fact, medical research shows that warm-ups with sustained stretching, are generally associated with reduced performance. Losing even a little bit of its reactivity will cause a muscle, to be suddenly less explosive, because the stretching shortening cycle is slower. This reduced performance last only a few hours, but it is enough to hinder a workout. So be careful not to overdo it when you stretch during a warm up.
